Ida Amelia Bilden was born in Wakonda, South Dakota, September 30, 1882 to Edward and Maren Bilden. She was raised in South Dakota.
In 1910 she and her twin brother, Lewis, came to the Joplin, Montana area where both of them located homesteads. Her's was about six miles southeast of Joplin. In 1912 she married Simon C. Anderson in Havre and together they farmed his homestead located one mile south of Joplin. The product of their marriage was four children. Mr. Anderson passed away in 1934. She and the children maintained the original homestead. In fact, it is still farmed by Anderson offspring today. After her retirement she lived in Joplin for many years.
In 1973 she moved into the Liberty County Nursing Home in Chester. She died March 8, 1978 at the age of 95.
Survivors include two sons, Enoch and Richard "Bud" of Joplin; one daughter, Mrs. William (Hazel) Meldrum of Somers. Montana; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, by a daughter, Mrs. Marie Wilmes in 1973; by three brothers, Ed, Adolph and Lewis, and by her parents.
