EDDYVILLE, KY - Mrs. Rosedith "Rosie" Hawkins, 92, of Eddyville passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Caldwell Medical Center in Princeton.

She was a former 1st Lieutentant WWII Army nurse serving in New Guinea and the Philippine Isands from 1944-1946. She retired as a registered nurse from St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport, Iowa with 20 plus years service. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Eddyville and was the information contact person for the Eddyville Lions Club.

She is survived by one son, Jim (Chris) Hawkins Sr of Kuttawa; one grandson, Jimmy Hawkins Jr of Kuttawa; two great-grandchildren, Breanna Shea Hawkins and Trey Hunter Hawkins of Kuttawa; one sister, Loraine Bromley of Rock Island, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clifford A. Hawkins; two brothers, Richard VanHoorebeck Jr and Francis VanHoorebeck. Her parents were Richard VanHoorebeck and Christine Weeg VanHoorebeck.

Local visitation will be 5:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville. The Rosary Service will be Saturday at 7:30 P.M with Paul Bachi officiating at Lakeland Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island, Illinois. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island with burial in Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island.
