John took to drink and was not kind to Hattie. In 1908 She divorced him and took the Children back to Minnesota. She became ill herself and the family was completely broken up. The children were sent to and raised in different foster homes. Hattie then remarried John D Lynch in Eureka Springs Arkansas in 1920 where they made their home.
