Salvador the son of Emma Cota nad step-son of Manuel Cota of Nogales AZ, the son of Francisco Norzagaray enlisted in the US Marine Corps on August 1, 1968 in Phoenix AZ. He arrived in Vietnam on February 2 1969 were he was assigned for duth with Company K, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

Enroute to a reported enemy rocket launch site near the hamlet of Bo Ban (1) in the Hieu Duc District of Quang Nam Province the Marine patrol was hit with a volley of automatic rifle fire from an enemy force positioned in a tree line. The patrol returned small arms fire and a volley of 81 mm mortar rounds on the suspected enemy position. During the brief exchange with the enemy, PFC Norzagaray was killed from the hostile rife fire.
