MITCHELL
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Hillcrest Baptist Church for I.W. Mitchell, 81, 1905 W. Pierce St., who died Thursday, March 12, 1987, in a local nursing home.
The Rev. Fine of Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate, with burial to follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. Denton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Carl Bland, Deb Smith, Shannon Phillips, Marvin Bailey, Barney Leigon and Rosco Payne.
Born Nov. 6, 1905, in McCrory, Ark., he lived in Oakridge, Tenn, before coming to Carlsbad in 1945. He and Idah H. Reneau were married Feb. 27, 1926 in McCrory.
He worked as an electrician in the sales and service industry until retirement in 1967. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include: his wife, Ida H. Mitchell, Carlsbad; one son, A.M. Mitchell, White's City; two daughters, Marilyn Mitchell, Lubbock, Texas, and Nedra Parker, Carlsbad; one brother, Hubert Mitchell, Howell, Ark.; two sisters, Anna Lee Schmitt of Howell and Jessamine Keith, Jonesburg, Ark.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
