KILLED IN FALL FROM THE TOP OF MERRIMAC CLIFF
LYMAN B. YANCEY, FATALLY INJURED NEAR EUREKA, MO SUNDAY; BODY TO BE BROUGHT HERE
DIED IN ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL
BODY WILL BE BROUGH OVERLAND TO CHILLICOTHE FOR SERVICES AND INTERMENT IN EDGEWOOD

Lyman B. Yancey, only son of Mrs. Lymon P. Yancey of this city, was fatally injured in a fall from a cliff near Eureka, MO late Sunday. The body will be brought overland to Chillicothe for funeral services and burial in Edgewood. The body will be accompanied by his uncle, T.M.Gaines of St. Louis. Tuesday morning's edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch gave the following account of the accident:

Lyman B. Yancey, 40 years old, an automobile salesman residing at the Commodore Apartments, 5316 Pershing Avenue, died yesterday at city hospital of injuries received when he fell about 100 feet from a cliff overlooking the Meramec River about three miles southwest of Eureka.

Shouts of Yancey's companions brought several men from the clubhouses across the river. The men were able to scale the bluff and carry him down. After being taken across the river in a boat he was placed on a canvas cot and carried about a mile through the woods. A doctor gave first aid treatment and an ambulance took him to City Hospital.

An examination indicated probable spine and skull fractures, fractured ribs and internal injuries.

Mr. Yancey was born in Ferguson, MO, on February 14, 1892. He attended the grade schools in Chillicothe and graduated from the High School in Quincy.

He enlisted with the 222nd Aerial Squadron in Belleville, Illinois and saw eighteen months of service in France.

Besides his mother he is survived by a niece, Mrs. Mary Ann Rensch of the home; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Yancey Hagerman who is enroute to Lakeland, Florida to spend the winter. Funeral arrangements will not be made until the arrival of Mrs. Hagerman.

Mrs. Yancey and daughter, Mrs. George T. Ross of Leavenworth, Kansas, Mrs. L. P. Jones, Akron, Ohio, Mrs. George Kelley, Knox City, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Tansil and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gantges of LaPlata, Missouri will come for the funeral.
