Innocent III

Roman Catholic Pope. Born Lotario dei Conti di Segni in Gavignano, Papal States, he served as Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church from January 8, 1198 to his death in 1216. He was the creator of the Holy Inquisition, signing the first document about it during a council in 1199.
