Everett Jewel Oliver of Natchitoches, Louisiana passed away at his home the morning of May 1, 2011, his 82nd birthday, following his battle with cancer.

Everett was born on May 1, 1929 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Jewel and Annie Lee Oliver. He married Opal Hicks on July 17, 1948 in Monroe, Louisiana. The family of Everett Oliver would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Kevin Sittig who was not only the doctor who took such great care of Dad in his later years, but who also became a great friend to our family. He played a tremendous role in making sure Dad was well taken care of with any illness he had. I don't know what we would have done without him. We would also like to thank Hospice of Natchitoches for the loving way they cared for Dad allowing him to remain in his home where he was most comfortable, where his family could be with him day and night during his last days and where he could pass with dignity on his terms. It also goes without saying that we are so grateful to all the wonderful friends that were so willing to step in and help in any way they could whether it was taking Dad to Shreveport for his appointments, giving Mom the hugs she needed or just sitting with Dad as he talked hours on end about "the good times".

There are no words that can adequately describe the love we had for our dad or the pain that is in our hearts. He was an amazing husband, dad, brother and papaw and will be missed more than he could have ever imagined. We love you Dad and will see you again one day.
