They lived in Maine for sometime, where William entered the Civil War, in the 17th Reg. as a Captain. Just before his discharge in 1865, he was breveted a Brigadier General.
After the war, he practiced law, evidenced by occcupation on census. They moved to Cambridge, Mass., where they were in 1880 census.
They had two children, Clarence and Mary Maud.
