Husband of Laura Brown and Emma J. Brotherton Randall whom he married in 1867 and son of William & Amanda M. Osborne Randall. They had three children, Jennie 1869, James 1871 & Franklin 1874. He was a cooper.

James Randall died at his home in Bliss Sunday morning, April 27th, 1902. He was born in Byron, Genesee County in 1839 and has spent the greater part of his life in the town of Wethersfield. Mr. Randall was a soldier in the Civil War.

He married for his first wife, Laura Brown of Gainesville. After her death he was married to Emma Brotherton of Wethersfield, who survives him together with two sons, James Jr. and Willie of Wethersfield.

Funeral services were held from the M.E. church Tuesday, April 29th at one o'clock p.m. Rev. O.J. Ward officiating. Interment in the family lot at Wethersfield.

He enlisted at age 23 on August 11, 1862 in Shelden, NY for 3 years. Mustered in August 14, 1862 as Private in Company C, 1st. NY Dragoons. Mustered out June 30, 1865 with company at Clouds Mills, Virginia. He was wounded September 19, 1864 in the 3rd. Battle of Winchester in Virginia. He was a cooper, had blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion and stood 5'10" tall.
Another source says he enlisted at age 23 years, on August 9, 1862 in Java, NY. In Company C, NY 1st. Calvary Regiment on August 14, 1862. Mustered out June 30, 1865 at Clouds Mills, Va.
