Delmas Wayne Blue Sr. of Midland went home to be with Jesus Christ in early morning Friday, March 14, 2014 after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in August 2013.

He was born on March 07, 1933, in Jefferson, Texas, and had celebrated his 81st Birthday surrounded by family.

His early years were spent in Hartzo, Little Cypress and Orange, Texas, where he graduated from Luther Stark High School in 1952. He married the former Jean Hickman also of Orange in June 1952. They moved to Midland in 1955 to settle and raise their children.

Blue was the Great-Grandson of Henry Madison Smith and the Great-Great-Grandson of Gen. James Smith, both notables of the Texas Revolution.

Pursuing a lifelong interest in electronics he worked as a Journeyman Electrician for fifty years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Local 460 of Midland and later of Local 602 of Amarillo Texas.

Blue was a member of the United Pentecostal Church International and enjoyed working as a volunteer with the ‘Church-In-A-Day' Program (CIAD), in which an entire church would be built in a single day. Most of these churches were in East and South Texas. He also supported the ministry of Rev. Irvin Baxter of Dallas, Texas.

His beloved "Jean Doll" passed away on August 23 2000 of a heart attack after celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in June.

His youngest daughter, Janet Lea, passed away April 30, 2011, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, also of Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Preceding him in death are his parents, William Ernest and Eva Dell Stevens Blue. Sisters, Eva Blue Tannehill, Lera Blue Coon and Brother, William Ernest Blue Jr.

Wayne is survived by daughters and son, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, March 17, 2014, from 6:00-8:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

The Blue family wishes to thank Dr. Carr and staff at ACC; the Nurses at the Outpatient Treatment Center (his angels); staff at Cross Type services and Oncology nurses at MMH. We would like to thank all the staff from Hospice of Midland who made our dad comfortable these last few weeks. They would also like to thank all of their family and friends that were gracious enough to donate blood and platelets to Blue.
