Horace M. Galusha
Horace M. Galusha, son of Marcus and Austia (Harrington) Galusha, died Tuesday afternoon at Putnam Memorial Hospital. He would have been 89 years old on June 27.
Born in Shaftsbury in 1884, he moved to his present home in 1888, the years of the big blizzard. He married the former Lola Brundage in Greenwich, Conn., June 27, 1906, and the couple observed their golden wedding anniversary on June 27, 1956.
Mr. Galusha had operated a farm in Shaftsbury and had produced some of Bennington County's finest maple syrup. He was also a carpenter.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Warren of Bennington and one daughter, Charlotte, of Burlington; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 am at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home with the Rev. A.J. MacDonald, pastor of the Shaftsbury First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Center Shaftsbury. There will be no calling hours.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Shaftsbury, or the Missionary Alliance Church, Bennington, through the office of the funeral home.
