US Congressman. Born in Weston, West Virginia, he was the recorder of the town of Weston in 1876, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1877 and commenced to practice law in Grantsville, West Virginia. He was the committee clerk in the West Virginia State Senate, (1881-82), assistant clerk of the West Virginia Senate, (1883-87), a member of the West Virginia State House of Delegates, (1887-88) and clerk of the West Virginia House of Delegates, (1888-90). He was the president of the Calhoun County Bank, when elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-second Congress, serving (1911-13). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and served as president of the Calhoun County High School Board. He died at age 61 in Grantsville, West Virginia.
