Ann was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, to Fred and Mary (Lach) Gjondla, the second of five children.
Ann, while being raised in Chicago, met Antone "Tony" Richter at a USO dance, during World War II. They were later married in Chicago March 3, 1946. Together, Tony and Ann raised eight children, residing mostly in the Nyssa and Ontario area.
She worked at Ore-Ida Foods and the State of Oregon Visitor Center for a number of years. One of Ann's greatest joys was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. The other joy was her Catholic faith.
Ann also enjoyed playing bingo and her sometimes "secret" trips to Jackpot.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, in 1971, shortly after celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Ann suffered the loss of a son, Michael, his wife, Cindy, and a daughter, Debbie, in 1970. Another son, Antone "Tony" Jr. died in 1988. Ann was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joey and Charlie; and sister, Marie.
Ann is survived by her brother, Fred "Bucks" (Marilyn) Gjondla, of Romeoville, IL; her children: Mary Jo Richter, of Caldwell, ID, Fred (Dawn) Richter, of Payette, ID, Diane (Mark) Berria, of Eagle, ID, Chuck (Stephanie) Richter, of Monroe, WA, and Julie (Ernie) Chandler, of Weiser, ID; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A Very Special Thank You to Dr. Paul Gering, and to his office staff, Amanda, Michelle, and Tamara, for their care and compassion towards Ann. To the Seniors and Disabled for their help over the years, and to the staff at Dorian Place and Wellsprings.
You could always count on her smiling face and hearing her two favorite phrases "Where's my hug" and "I'll keep you in my heart, thoughts and prayers." Ann (Mom and Grandma), we will keep YOU in our hearts, thoughts and prayers!
A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lienkaemper Chapel.
