Ex-Coroner Rowe Died Yesterday
Yesterday (Monday) afternoon, at the home of his brother, Elijah Rowe, who lives on the plantation of Mr. George Gibson, of the Mountain Creek church community,
death claimed Ex-Coroner James Franklin Rowe, after an illness of some two weeks.
Mr. Rowe, a native of Walton county, was a dwarf from birth and yet he lived to be 56 years, nine months and twelve days old, the son of the late James and Elizabeth
Hayes (sic- maiden name was actually Hall) Rowe and despite his affliction, from youth, had been so full of the greatest wit and good humor, was of more than ordinary
intelligence and because of the general high esteem the voters had for him, he was selected Coroner, to be succeeded by Tom Brown, present incumbent. He had a
good opinion of men and matters of public morment (sic) and for some years was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist church. From that church, the editor of The News in charge, the funeral and burial occurred this (Tuesday) afternoon. The E. L. Almand Co, funeral directors in charge.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Fannie Rowe, Mr. Rowe is survived by two brothers, Isaac Rowe, Monroe, Ga, RFD No. 3, Elijah and Albert Rowe, of the same address. He
leaves two sisters, Mrs. Annie Fuller and Mrs Effie Woodruff, of Monroe, Ga, rural free delivery mail route, No. 2.
The sympathy of all who remember genial James Franklin Rowe, is extended to the sorrow-stricken.
