L. E. "Cajun" Dennis, 88, of Cotter, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Gassville Nursing Center.

He was born March 22, 1923, at Pineville, Louisiana, the son of George David and Louell Traughber Dennis . He worked as an Engineer for both Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads for 43 years and was a lifetime member of the United Transportation Union. While working for Missouri Pacific Railroad he was a writer for the Missouri Pacific Magazine. Mr. Dennis served as the mayor of Cotter for one term and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and George Dennis; three sisters, Opal Kanapkey, Ruby Briggs and Pearl Dennis.

Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Cheryl Dennis of Springdale and Stephen and Caryn Dennis of Cotter; a sister, Minnie Grace McCullah of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie and Kenny Sanders of Mountain Home; Laura and Scott Crawford of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Craig and Hali Dennis of Mountain Home; four great grandchildren, Justin, Natalie, Alex and Aidan; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Conner-Hankins Funeral Home, 2833 Highway 62 West, Mountain Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Graveside services and burial will be private.
