Obituary: Santa Barbara News Press, Lompoc, Nov 6, 1952:

William Negus, 70, died here at his home at 320 W. Locust St yesterday after a four-day illness.
Born in Lompoc Oct 4, 1882, Mr Negus was a lifelong resident of this town. A well-known building contractor and the city building inspector, Negus was active in many civic affairs and organizations. He was a member of the Lompoc Pioneer Society, Masonic Lodge 262, and for 20 years acted as financial secretary for the Foresters of America.--CLASS of 1902--Last September the Pioneer Society honored Mr Negus as being one of the oldest members of the class of 1902.

Mr Negus is survived by his wife, Charlotte, his two sons, William Negus Jr and Edward; his daughter, Mrs Carmen McIntosh, all of Lompoc, another daughter, Miss Cecelia Negus of Oakland, and a sister, Mrs Pearl Negus Fitzpatrick of Eureka. Private funeral services will be held Saturday with interment at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

The family requests that in the place of flowers those who wish may make contributions to the William Negus memorial fund (in care of the Lompoc Record) to be used in the development of the proposed Lompoc swimming pool.--WORKED FOR POOL--As a younger man, Mr Negus was interested in the recreational development of Lompoc and was one of the promoters associated with earlier efforts to build a swimming pool. A well-known member of the Lompoc Dramatic Club of the 20s, he was also a lifelong sporting enthusiast, particularly interested in fishing and hunting.
