He was born in Pennsylvania and came to Illinois when a young man. He was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Seitz of Oakley in 1865. His wife died 13 years ago. He leaves eight children as follows: Mrs. Will Oakes, Mrs. M.E. Hendricks, Mrs. D.O. Cartwright and Linn Enterline of Mattoon; Ed Enterline of this city; J.T. Enterline of California; Will Enterline of Blodgett, Mo., and Sherman Enterline of Oklahoma. There are a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After his honorable discharge from the army, where he had served in the 116th Illinois infantry, Mr. Enterline engaged in farming. During the war he suffered a wound in his left leg and years later that member had to be amputated. After taking up his residence in Sullivan, he for a time was mail transfer man between the Post Office and the depots. He also served many years as justice of the peace. He was of a kindly disposition and had many friends.
The remains were taken to the McMullin funeral home where they remained until time of funeral Thursday afternoon. Services were held in the M.E. church, in charge of Rev. Lawrence. Burial was in Greenhill cemetery. Six grandsons served as pall bearers.
