Miss E. M. Gowan Laid To Rest At Hope Hill

Miss Ethel Mae Gowan, 47, passed away Friday night about 8:30 o'clock at her home in Bemis after an illness of several weeks. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Miss Gowan was born and reared in Carroll county but had resided in the Bemis section for many years. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. J. M. Gowan of Bemis, eight brothers, W. M., J. T. and E. V. Gowan, all of Bemis, J. A. and J. M. Gowan, of Shreveport. La., R. E. Gowan, of Houston, Texas, L. L. of Grand Junction and E. B. Gowan of Jackson.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence by the Rev. E. F. McDaniel pastor of the Bemis Methodist Church and the Rev. V. A. Delhazo of Jackson, and the interment followed in Hope Hill.

The following served as pallbearers: Joe Moore, Dan Cobb, George Durham, A. M. Edwards and Johnnie Bray. Smith Funeral Home in charge.
