He was the son of French/Gilbert Simpson line. French/ Gilbert Simpson married first Elizabeth Ash/Ish, and 2nd Elizabeth Fairfax born 1798, their daughter Phebe Simpson was born 1832/33 in Loudoun Co.,Va. Elizabeth would be my Mary (Fairfax) Cooksey's aunty:) Elizabeth was William Fairfax Jr.'s younger sibling.

Belive the mother of James Hendy Simpson was Elizabeth Ash/Ish. Phebe Simpson would be his half sister.


He was a slaveholder in Va.

I am above 66 years old. I live near Clifton in Fairfax co, Va where I have lived since the war. I was born in Fairfax where i have resided all my life. I am a married woman, was married sometime before the war. My husband was a slave of James Simpson near Union Mill. He was a union man; I mean my husband was. He lives with me now. His is not joined in this petition because the property was mine. I have 8 children only three are with me now. I was free born.
