Son of Benjamin. He graduated from Cincinnati Medical College in 1856. He married 1st to Kitty Braddy, daughter of Benjamin Braddy sometime before 1851. They had a daughter Amanda Samantha Hougue (Bill).

Lemule re-married after his first wife passed away to Eliza Cochrane on 1-19-1853 in Jefferson County, IL. They had 11 children; Walter, Mary Ellen keen (John), Charles C (Martha), William, Sophronia Ann Sledge (Jefferson), Leander Monroe (Nancy), James M, Albert, Lena Belle Fry (James), Ida O Morgan (Richard), and Leona Blackburn (Scott).

He was a farmer, doctor and one time Postmaster General of Loganville, IL. He owned 1400-1500 acres in Farrington Township Illinois. When he was a child he attended the first school there. It was a pole cabin about 16 feet square with a dirt floor with slab seats. He wore bucksin pants and shirt. When older he was collector for the township he collected payment with animal skins which were legal tender at the time. He was one of the first doctors in the regine at which he was well suited. He also farmed and raised stock. He was supervisor for the township for 5 terms and collector for one. He was a staunch Republican at a time when the township was democratic.
