Maurice C. Kraus, 90, Plainfield, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Wild Rose Manor, where he was a resident. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Plainfield, with the Rev. Paul Vanden Hogen officiating. Burial of remains will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. A memorial fund has been established. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home, Almond, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Maurice was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Greenwood, a son of the late Albert and Minnie (Swenson) Kraus. He loved to go hunting and fishing, especially sturgeon fishing. He enjoyed working with jewelry and did much of his own butchering. He especially enjoyed morning coffee group discussions.
He was married to Leona Buelow on May 17, 1971, in Iron Mountain, Mich. He had worked with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Auxiliary for more than 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; one son, Mark Kraus, Oshkosh; one daughter, Susan (Brian) Anderson, Oshkosh; two stepdaughters, Ramona Feustel, Wautoma, and Gloria Hadden, Plainfield; one stepson, Kenneth (Marilyn) Brinkmann, Wautoma; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a great-granddaughter, Angie.
