CENTREVILLE, Md. -- Lillie Mae Chambers of Centreville died of heart failure Saturday, May 3, 1997, in Easton Memorial Hospital. She was 68.
Ms. Chambers was born in Centreville, the daughter of the late James and Lottie Sparks.

She worked for the C & P Telephone Co. as an operator for 28 years, retiring in 1982.

She enjoyed making holiday baskets for friends and family and her favorite was Christmas. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and reading.

Ms. Chambers was a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church, an active member of the Centreville Senior Citizen Center and a member of the Jeff Davis American Legion Post Ladies Auxillary in Centreville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Albert Chambers in 1966. She is survived by a son, James A. Chambers of Fayetteville, N.C. and a daughter, Nancy C. Schwamberger of Felton; four grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Centreville United Methodist Church, Centreville.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 114 W. Water St., Centreville.

Burial will be in Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville.

Instead of flowers, family suggests contributions made to the Arthritis Foundation, Maryland Chapter 1777, Reistertown Road, Suite 175, Baltimore, MD 21208.
