Services for George T. Blazek, 93, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. Monsignor John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rev. Kirby Garner of St. Anthony Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bryan City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Blazek died Saturday at St. Joseph Manor.He was born in the Smetana community of Brazos County, graduated from Bryan High School and attended Texas A&M University. He was in the banking business 21 years, starting at City National Bank and later First National Bank. He did accounting and tax work until his retirement in 1982.

He was a charter member of St. Joseph's CCD, serving as president and vice-president. He was a charter member and director of St. Joseph's Council and was also a member of the choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, SPJST, American Legion Post 159 and served as a member of the board of directors for the Wheelock and Smetana Cemetery associations. He also was one of the founders of the Good Samaritan Pregnancy Services Inc., serving as director and treasurer from 1980 to 1986.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of captain, serving with the 88th Infantry "Blue Devils" Division, 5th USA. He was awarded numerous decorations and citations for his service on the battlefield. He was a longtime member of the Brazos County A&M Club, the Aggie Quarterback Club and the Aggie Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Blazek of Bryan; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Vera Blazek of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund or the St. Joseph School Fund.
