U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Rush Medical College Illinois, Chicago, in 1860 and commenced to practice Medicine at Kentland, Indiana. There he served as surgeon of the 36th Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry, Union Army, during the Civil War. After the war, he practiced medicine, was president of the pension examining board and a member of the Indiana State House of Representatives, (1872-73). In 1895, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth Congress, serving until 1897. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of medicine, moved to Texas, in 1907 and engaged in the real estate business until his death.
