James Edward Reckling, 59, of Fossil died Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at his home. A time for a memorial gathering for family and friends is pending.
Mr. Reckling was born June 2, 1951, in Crete, Neb., the son of Robert and Edna Timm Reckling. He was raised and attended school in Crete Nebraska.
On July 25, 1992, he married Lisa M. Mitzel in Bend. The couple lived in Bend and Covebefore moving to their mountain property near Fossil.
Mr. Reckling was a general contractor and real estate developer. He served for more than 40 years as a volunteer fireman with the Bend Fire Department, Cove Fire Department and Wheeler Point fire district. He also participated on ski-patrol at Mr. Bachelor.
He enjoyed hunting, traveling, riding his Harley, skiing, tinkering in his shop and fishing, as well as bacon and popcorn.
Mr. Reckling is survived by his wife, Lisa Reckling of Fossil; daughter Lauren Johnson and her husband, R.J. of Bend; mother Edna Reckling of Crete, Neb.; sister Sharon Eberspacher of Crete; a granddaughter; three nieces and their spouses; seven great-nieces and -nephews; and his beloved dogs.
