US Congressman. He attended Valparaiso Law School Indiana, was admitted to the bar in 1917 and commenced to practice law in Peru, Indiana. During World War I, he served as a Private in Company B, 4th Regiment Casual Detachment, United States Army. After the war, he was City Attorney of Peru, Indiana, prosecuting attorney of Miami County, and a member of the Indiana Railroad Commission, in 1930. In 1931, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second Congress and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1939. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 50.
