FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Christopher Alex Guice, 89, of Newellton, were to be at 4 p.m. today at United Pentecostal Church of Newellton with the Revs. H. B. Haygood and James Hammett officiating.

Burial was to be in Legion Memorial Cemetery near Newellton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

He died early Monday morning at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Newellton after a long illness.

Mr. Guice was a resident of Tensas Parish since 1925. He was a member of the United Pentacostal [sic Pentecostal] Church of Newellton.

Survivors include three sons [only two named], Glover Guice of Monroe, Mac Guice of Natchez, Miss. and daughters, Mrs. E. B. Black of Newellton, Mrs. Dave Elliott of Houston, Tex., Mrs. I. V. Black of St. Joseph, Mrs. Albino Torres of Houston, Tex. and Mrs. Robert Morehead of Port Arthur, Tex., 26 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be grandsons. The body will be at the church until time for services.
