Mrs. Mary Wharton Sutton
Mrs. Mary Wharton Sutton, 74, formerly of Iola, deid Monday evening at her home in Independence. Her first husband, the Rev. W. P. Wharton, was pastor of the Iola Methodist Church from 1929 to 1933. He became ill during his last year here and died a short time after leaving Iola.
Subsequently Mrs. Wharton was married to Rev. R. K. Sutton who preceded her in death about eight years ago. Since then she was spent several years in Glendale, Calif., living with Mrs. Marie Montgomery, Mr. Wharton's sister. She returned to Independence in May. Mr. Wharton was pastor at Indepencence from 1912 to 1918.
Mrs. Sutton's only immediate survivor is her brother, Randall K. Seaton, Independence.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Floyd C. Ross at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Potts Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in the Seaton family plot, Neosho Falls Cemetery, at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Earlier at 10 a.m. services were held at the Potts Funeral Home in Independence. Out-of-towns relatives and friends attending were Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Seaton, Mr. and Mrs. James Twillis, Bartlett; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Seaton, Ponca City, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harvey, Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Diver, Chanute; Mrs. C. J. Bryant, Florence Harper, Mrs. B. D. Street, Edna Harmon and the Rev. Floyd Moss, Independence. Several from here: Mrs. Herb Schaede and Mrs. Dick Shaw, Yates Cemter.
