Mary Jane Clark, daughter of William Alexander Clark and Sarah Maria Cleveland Clark, was born October 28, 1852 Piqua County, Ohio, where she lived until 1855 when her faaily came to Anderson County, Kansas. Here she made her residence until 1878, when she moved to Eureka, Kansas and has since made her home in or near Eureka.

She was married to Jacob J. Dowler, March 12, 1871. To this union were born three children; Blanche who died 1899, Fred who lives near Piedmont, Greenwood County, Kansas and Mrs. H.G. Brookover of this community, who together with other near relatives and numerous friends mourn the loss of a dear and faithful friend and mother. Her husband preceded her to the better world, having passed away in 1911.

In June this year she met with an accident which finally caused her death after months of suffering.

Funeral services were conducted from the family home, by Rev. P. Mennenoeh with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
