Dorine Doris (Raile) Zimbelman, 84, of St. Francis, Kan. was called home by the Lord on Friday, April 15, 2011.

At the time of her passing, she was residing at Windsor Estates Nursing Home in Salina, Kan.

Dorine was born on Jan. 7, 1927, in Cheyenne County, Kan., to Gottlieb and Regina (Holzwarth) Raile. She was the youngest of 10 children; eight girls and two boys.

Dorine married Raymond Walter Zimbelman on April 27, 1947, at the EUB Church in Cheyenne County, Kan., in a ceremony officiated by Rev. Knosp.

Raymond made Dorine ask her own dad, Gottlieb, if they could get married. Raymond and Dorine took their honeymoon to Lincoln, Neb.

Raymond and Dorine lived on the Zimbelman family farm northwest of St. Francis from 1947 to 1969 after which they moved to town.

As newlyweds they would go to numerous dances in the area with Fred and Arlene Krien, Lester and Ella Roll, Raymond and Fleda Raile and many other friends.

Dorine was a farmwife, a housewife and a mother of four children. She kept a meticulous home. She was an avid gardener who diligently cultivated spectacular floral and vegetable gardens in her backyard.

Dorine attended college in Greeley and Hays for two summers, studying to become a teacher.
During her life, she was a teacher at Blue Ridge School, a nurse's aid at the Cheyenne County Hospital, ran Sainty's café and worked at the greenhouse.

Dorine was active in the garden club, American Legion Auxiliary, EHU, Red Hats and United Methodist Women.

She was active within the United Methodist Church. She loved Jesus and was steadfast in her faith, instilling her strong values within her family.

Dorine had a passion for gardening, cooking, canning and traveling with her husband and friends. Raymond and Dorine traveled all across the world with some favorites including Montana, Maine, Vermont, Alaska, Florida, Texas, Mexico City, Germany France, Holland and Belgium.
Raymond and Dorine loved to fish, taking count-less fishing trips to Lake Enders, Trenton and McConaughy with Rueben and Valjean Schultz, Lester and Ella Roll and others.

She was a master at filleting fish and then preparing huge fish fry dinners for all to enjoy.
But most of all, Dorine loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She adored each and every one of them. She was extremely selfless and had a way of making everyone she knew feel special. Her own happiness truly came from serving others and making them happy.

Dorine is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond of St. Francis; four children – daughter Diana Sue Zimbelman of Centennial, daughter Robin Ann (Tim) Burr of St. Francis, son Mark John (Sue) Zimbelman of St. Francis and daughter Lori Christine (Ted) Weber of Salina, Kan.; eight grandchildren – Scott Weber of Wamego, Kan., TJ (Sarah) Burr of Evans, Abby Burr of Den-ver, Ryan Weber of Salina, Kan., Dennon (Drew) Fleming of St. Francis, Brandon Weber of Lawrence, Kan, Christina Weber of Salina, Kan. and Alecia Zimbelman of St. Francis; five great-grandchildren – Tristan Weber, Tayke Weber, Carter Weber, Riley Burr and Tyce Burr.
