Professional Football Player. Born in Long Beach, California, the son of Gene and Barbara Chandler, he was raised in Whittier, California. He was drafted in the seventh round by the Bills and played nine seasons with them. He caught more than 60 passes in 1976 and 1977. He was traded to Oakland in April 1980 for linebacker Phil Villapiano and caught four passes for 77 yards in the Raiders' Super Bowl XV victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. He retired after the 1982 season because of a knee injury. Robert also earned a law degree from Western State University College of Law and married his college sweetheart Marilyn and had three children. Robert had a 12 year NFL career, after the end of his football career he was a Raider radio commentator and broadcaster. Robert was an avid golf player and was involved in the hotel business and other ventures with close friend Leo Hart, a former backup quarterback for the Bills. He was 45 years old.
