Her Clothes Caught Fire And Mrs. Webb Was Burned To Death
"A sad accident occurred Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. Charles Webb, near Locust Grove, whereby his wife, Mrs. Sallie Webb was burned to death.
Everyone was absent from the house and Mrs. Webb had gone to sleep in front of the fire, her clothes were ignited, and the unfortunate woman awoke to find herself a blazing mass of flames. She immediately ran to the bed and tried to get beneath the covering, but did not succeed.
Mrs. Webb's frantic cries for help alerted the attention of neighbors, who came to her assistance, but ti late to save her life. The fire had done its work and Mrs. Webb was burned beyond hope of recovery. After several hours of terrible suffering, she died Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Webb had only been married a few months. The funeral took place from New Hope Sunday afternoon at 2:230 o'clock."
