Edwin was the son of Humphrey Holford and Elizabeth Jane (Smith) Holford. He was married to Anna Pomeroy Sept 20, 1868, in Lasalle, Monroe, Michigan. She died in Lyons, Iona, Michigan 1874. They had three children: Edward Nathaniel "Nate" Holford, James Franklin Holford, and Elia Jane "Jennie" who married Frank Younglove. Anna's grave has not been located. She was the daughter of Nancy Curtis and Elbridge Pomeroy. Nancy Curtis was the daughter of Truman and Nancy (Bowen) Curtis.

On Aug 21, 1881 Edwin married Annette "Nettie" L. Bebe in Webber, Lake, Michigan and they had one daughter Anna L. who married John J. Nash

Note: Edwin's daughter Anna L. Nash made his headstone with a Little bit of concrete and a few marbles...
