He was born September 26, 1876, in Springhill Township, a son of the late John A. and Harriet Adams Riffle.
Mr. Riffle was a retired school teacher, having taught for many years in Aleppo Township. He also operated a general store in Aleppo Township for a number of years and had lived for a time in Whiteley Township. He moved to Waynesburg 18 years ago.
Mr. Riffle was a member of the Centennial Church of God at Aleppo.
His first wife, Rachel Staggers Riffle, is deceased.
Surviving are his second wife, Gertrude Headley Riffle; one daughter, Grace, wife of Samuel Kamerer, of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma, wife of L. B. Toothman, of Mannington, W. Va., and Verne, wife of Lloyd Duncan, of Eldon, Mo., and two brothers, Ray Riffle, of Barnette, Mo., and Oscar Riffle, of Kansas City, Mo.
Three sons, two sisters and one brother are deceased.
