U.S. Congressman. Moving to Penn Yan, New York, in 1813, he became successful in the mercantile business. With the formation of Yates County, New York, he was appointed by the Governor as the first county treasurer. In 1831, he was elected as an Anti-Masonic candidate to the Twenty-second Congress, serving until 1833. After his term, he resumed his mercantile business pursuits and was a hotel keeper until his death at age 52.
