IOWA CITY
Frederick J. Beard, Jr., 5833 East Pima, Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Iowa City, died Monday in Tucson following a lengthy illness.
Born Sept. 22, 1910 in Johnson County, he was a mechanic at the Burkett-Reinhart Garage in Iowa City, He married Roberta Schmitt in 1939 at Iowa City.
Survivors are two daughters, Lanna Jo Neal of Ventura, Calif., and Ruby Lea Windsor of Kenai, Alaska; three sisters, Ellen Rhodes and Evelyn Smith, both of Iowa City, and Treva Rothenberger of Santa Ana, Calif.; three brothers, Paul, Donald and John, all of Iowa City; seven grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
