Joseph's parents were James BOREN Sr. ( c1768 NC - 1826 Hempstead County, Ark.) & Nancy _____ (maiden name unknown b. ___? VA - d. 1851 Ellis County, TX).
Joseph's 1834 marriage bond to Ann was witnessed by Francis White JOHNSON, a firebrand of the Texas Revolution.
Also witnessed by William Barret TRAVIS, who was to become the commander of the Alamo in 1836.
Also witnessed by Moseley Baker on the marriage bond. Baker had a company at San Jacinto.
