The Honorable John Rutledge Abney (1850-1927) served, 1876-1880, as Solicitor-General of South Carolina, was the brother of lawyer Benjamin L. Abney (1858-1921); native of Edgefield District (S.C.); practiced law in South Carolina (Edgefield and Columbia) and New York (New York).
