A homecoming celebration for Nora Jesmer Lee "Madea" Wheeler, 92, of Sulphur Springs wil be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. M. LaVelle Hendricks, pastor of East Caney Missionary Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in East Caney Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at East Caney Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wheeler passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Charles and Ella Lee. They preceded her in death.

She married Dr. Marion H. Wheeler in 1943. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2005.

Mrs. Wheeler was a longtime resident of the East Caney Community. She was a member of East Caney Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Marion H. Wheeler Jr. of Yorba Linda, Calif.; two daughters, Birdena Kendrick and husband, Carl, of Washington, D.C., and Barbara Duncan of Jackson, Mich.; one brother, Clyde Lee and wife, Annie; one sister-in-law, Lena Elvira Collins; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by 10 siblings.

Arrangements are under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company, 1112 North Palace Ave. in Tyler.
