"Funeral services for Mrs. Clyde (Marie S. Scoles) Carlyle, 74, of Decatur, a former Bethany resident were held at 1 pm Tuesday at the McMullin Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial was in the Bethany Cemetery. Mrs. Carlyle died at 8:30 am Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur. She was born in St. Elmo, Jan 12, 1899, the daughter of Dan and Camelia Durbin Scoles and married Clyde Carlyle, July 15, 1916 in Shelbyville. He died May 29, 1942. She was a licensed practial nurse. Survivors include a son, James Elmer Carlyle of Bethany; one daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Elaine) Thompson of Bethany; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One brother, and one sister preceded her in death."
