ALLGOOD-LUND Edith M. Allgood-Lund passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Born February 4, 1918 in Arcola, NJ, she was raised in Navesink, NJ and was the youngest of four daughters born to Irish immigrant parents. Edith graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in New York City as a Registered Nurse and served as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy Nurse Corps during WWII, stationed in New Zealand. She met her first husband, Dr. J. L. "Jack" Allgood, Jr. in San Francisco after the war. She resided in Jacksonville for over 50 years and was a past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service now known as the United Methodist Women of Ortega United Methodist Church. She was also a past president of the Women's Club and Garden Club of Jacksonville. She was a supporter of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, the Cummer Gallery of Art and the Jacksonville Zoo. She was also a long time art student of Marjorie Edwards. Edith was predeceased by her first husband, Jack, as well as her second husband, Jeremiah "Jerry" S. Lund. She is survived by her three children, J. Lee Allgood III (Eileen) of Marietta, GA, Thomas B. Allgood of Jacksonville, FL and Janna E. Allgood-Damiano (Duane) of Portland, OR; two nieces, a nephew and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 10am at the Chapel of Ortega United Methodist Church, 4807 Roosevelt Blvd., (Hwy 17 S) Jacksonville, FL 32210. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Ortega United Methodist Church.
