U.S. Congressman. He was chief of the Appointment Division, Post Office Department, Washington, D.C., (1903-05) and was private secretary to the Governor of Kansas, (1907-08). He graduated from the Washburn Law School, in 1909, engaged in the practice of law in Marion, Kansas and also was editor of the Marion Record newspaper. In 1919, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth Congress and to the nest six succeeding Congresses serving until 1933. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was chairman of the State Corporation Commission of Kansas, (1933-39). He also was a justice of the Supreme Court of Kansas and served until his death.
