Parents- Ethelyn and Loren Weagel
Married Susan Finlinson, of Leamington, Utah on September 14,1944, they had one son Edward Finlinson Weagel of New Mexico and one daughter in law Deborah Fillerup Weagel, - four grandchildren.
Following from obit and belived to have written by Susan- his wife
"Bob graduated in Mining engineering from the University of Idaho, and served with the U.S. Navy aboard a destroyer in the Pacific,during World War II. In 1947 Bob hired on as shift boss for the United States Smelting, Refining, and Mining Company at the U.S. Mine in Copperfield, Utah. Over the years, he held most mining supervisory jobs for the company. During the time he was sponsored in the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.
In, 1970, he made Vice President og Southwest Operations. Later he became Vice President of U.S. Operations, Natural resources Division; he held this position until he retired in 1984.
Bob's first love was his wife and family, all of whom survive him. He cared about his country and was a patriotic citizen. He took pride in his work, enjoying each day on the job.
Among his other interests were gardening, fishing, bird hunting, and traveling. Bob and Susan seldom took a vacation without visiting a mining camp or ghost town.He enjoyed family gatherings and the association of close friends. His daily living provided spiritual strenghth to his family.
Bob's affillations with service and community organizations were as varied as his interest. Over the years they have included: Member of Sigma Gamma Epsilon( mining honorary), president of Lark Lions Club. member of Utah Mining Association, member of Salt Lake City of Chapter of YMCA Toastmasters Club, director of Salt Lake area American Red Cross,president of the S.W. Section of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, and Chairman of the St. George chapter of SCORE, a small business advising group.
Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Tuesday,April 23,1996 at the new Bloomington Hills Chapel, 1222 East Brigham Road,St. George,Utah. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
The Weagels extend thanks for the care given by the Hospice Team under the direction of Dr. Phillip C. McMahill. Contributions may be made to the Hospice Program, St. George, Utah.
The burial will be at Sunset,6 p.m. at the Oak City Cemetery with Miltary Honors accorded, under the direction of Spilsbury and Beard Mortuary,St. George."
Susan and Bob where in Georgia visiting Susan's lifelong friend Ranee Elizabeth Harder Hannah, my mother-in-law, when my husband and I found out we were expecting our child. It was a great time for all of us. Gail Hannah 47186089
