COX, MR. JIMMY R., SR. (J.R.) - age 52 of Cox Road, Maynardville went home to be with the Lord 4:45 p.m. Sunday August 19, 2001. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Member and Past Master of J.C. Baker Lodge #720 F&AM, member of Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies, York Rite and Kerbela Shrine Temple and was a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #337, Corryton. He was a former Union County Commissioner serving the 3rd District and a retired employee of BellSouth with 31 years of service and was a member of C.W.A. Local #3805. Survivors: wife, Betty Cox; parents, Willie David and Opal (Cook) Cox; daughters, Julie Woolard and fianc‚, Steve Davis, Whitney Wright; son and daughter in law, Jimmy Ray, Jr. and Michelle Cox; grandchildren, Morgan and Tucker Woolard, Nikki Cox, Jordan Jennings, Logan and Lucas Wright; brother and sister in law, David and Jeannie Cox; sister and brother in law, Connie and Jeff Atkins; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and an infinite amount of friends to include special friends, Donnie and Verleen Miller, Bud and Ida Jane Love, B.J. and Betty Hurst; loyal K-9 companion, Jake. Masonic services 8 p.m. Wednesday Cooke Mortuary Chapel, conducted by J.C. Baker Lodge #720 F&AM followed by funeral services with Rev. Gary Beeler officiating with music by Brad Lee and Michael Napier. Interment 11 a.m. Thursday, Cox Family Cemetery, Rev. Vaughn Richardson, Rev. Luther Cox officiating. Pallbearers: Kent Smith, Everett Coppock, Bill Cox, Clayton Cox, Doug Beeler, Dave Huskey, Paul Bowman, Gene King. Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Brummitt, Bud Love, Donnie Miller, Joe Hurst, Charlie Lovell, K.D. Cook, Alco Cox, Vaughn Graves, Teddy Cook, David Bell. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Wednesday Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville.
