COX, WILLIE DAVID, SR. "LITTLE DAVID" - age 81, of Maynardville, TN, passed away Monday evening at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and retired from Union County Highway Department. He was a veteran of WWII, where he received a Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters and a Bronze Star, among other medals earned. Preceded in death by parents, David and Minnie (Wolfenbarger) Cox sisters Ruby Buckner, Georgia Grizzard brothers J. Will and Charles Cox son Jimmy Ray Cox, Sr. Survived by wife of 57 years, Opal (Cook) Cox daughter and son-in-law Connie and Jeff Atkins son David Cox grandchildren Julie Davis, Jimmy R. Cox, Courtney Cox, and Taylor Cox 4 great grandchildren sister Cubas Wilson brothers and sisters-in-law John and Marie Cox and Luther and Helen Cox host of nieces and nephews and special friend Bill Brummitt. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at Cooke's Mortuary Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 8 pm with Rev. Vaughn Richardson officiating and music by the Williams Family. Graveside service with Military Honors will be on Thursday at 11 am at Cox Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Earl Bull, Mikey Cox, Jimmy Ray Cox, Jr., Alcoa Cox, Clayton Cox, and Allen Buckner. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Buckner and Floyd Loy. Arrangements by Cooke's Mortuary, Maynardville, TN.
