Mrs. Sarah Ellen Rife, 56, wife of Herman Rife, died at her home in Franklin township, near Cashtown, Monday evening at 9:15 from the effects of a paralytic stroke.
Mrs. Rife was a daughter of Jacob and Eliza (Lady) Deardorff and was born and always resided in Adams county.
Mrs. Rife taught school in Franklin township for eight years and was an active member of Trinity Reformed church, Cashtown. She was an active member of the Ladies’ Aid Society of that church.
Mrs. Rife is survived by her mother, Mrs. Eliza Deardorff, Gettysburg RD; her husband, three sons and three daughters, Harold Rife, a civil engineer at C. C. C. camp. No. 89, Conrad, Potter county, John Rife, a member of the same camp, Mrs. Albert Maxwell, Lancaster, and Mrs. Sara Rife, Miss Isabella Rife and William Rife, all at home.
The following brothers and sisters also survive; Ira Deardorff, McKnightstown; Clarence, McKnightstown; Mrs. Loleta Charles, McKnightstown; Mrs. C A Hershey, Gettysburg;

Brief funeral services at the Rife home, Thursday afternoon at 2:00 with further services at Trinity Reformed Church, Cashtown at 2:30, the Rev. G Howard Koons officiating. Interment at Flohr’s church cemetery.
