August B. Lingnau was born in Texas on March 13, 1864. He was one of the twelve children of Frederich and Catherine Bauer Lingnau, who came to the United States from Germany in 1853 and 1860, respectively. August was a carpenter for most of his life. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 8 days. He never married.
