A native Utican, he was born Oct. 19, 1922, son of Harry and Hildegarde Bean Eckler.
On Oct. 3, 1942, he married Rachel Burch.
Mr. Eckler was employed by the Bossert Manufacturing Co. in Utica for several years and for the past two years as a caretaker at the Hinckley State Park.
He was a communicant of the Ohio Methodist Church.
A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Poland and the Schuyler American Legion Post.
Besides his wife, sister and father, Utica, he leaves a daughter, Sharon Bell, Leonardsville and a son, David, of Poland.
Burial in McIntosh Cemetery, Town of Ohio, where a military service will be conducted. Rome Daily Sentinel, Saturday Evening, April 28, 1973
