John Palsrock, 83, of Rock Rapids, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Sanford Hospital, Rock Rapids.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Jurrens Funeral Home, Rock Rapids.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Rock Rapids, with the Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids

John Palsrok, age 83 of Rock Rapids, IA died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 at United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, IA with Pastor Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery of Rock Rapids, IA.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 26th from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, IA.

John Palsrok was born December 23, 1927 to Cornelius and Adriantje (Van Dis) Palsrok on a farm near Edna, Iowa. The family moved north of Rock Rapids where he attended country school.

He married Muriel Popma of Sioux Center, Iowa on July 22, 1948. They resided north of Rock Rapids, Iowa. A son, Carl Bruce, was born to them in 1953.

John farmed and sold seed corn. He was president of the Conservation League and cared for the mini zoo for many years.

John and Muriel retired to Rock Rapids in 1980. Although retired, he farmed for others for several years. John enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Muriel Palsrok; son, Carl (Geraldine) Palsrok of Sibley, IA; three grandchildren, Theresa (Rodney) Gravel of Wyoming, IA, Carla Palsrok and Clifford Rud and Christopher (Alayne) Palsrok all of Sibley, IA; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister, Grace (John) Schuurman of Rock Rapids, Iowa. John was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters.
